The group prefers to avoid written policies where possible, relying on members to apply common sense. However, there are several policies that members should be aware of and these are detailed below.
Mountain Safety
The group has a Mountain Safety Policy. This applies to all walks in mountainous areas. Note that it is the responsibility of all members to ensure that they have an appropriate level of experience, fitness and equipment for any walks that they attend.
Ramblers Policies
The group is bound by the policies of The Ramblers. These change over time but include the following:
- All walk leaders must be Ramblers Association members for insurance purposes.
- All walk leaders must be registered with The Ramblers.
- All new walk leaders must complete the Ramblers Association Walk Leaders training.
Keeping Members' Data Private
You may come into the possession of other members' private data (such as their phone number or email address when organising an event). The group requires all members to respect the privacy of other members who provide contact details. These contact details should only be used only for purposes related to that activity.
Facebook Policies
The group does have a Facebook usage policy for the Facebook group. It is explained on the About page of the Facebook group itself and is reproduced below:
Publishing walks and events
Not all members are on Facebook (and for insurance purposes) please use the TBR website to publish organised walks and events. Please contact the relevant committee member. Contact details are on the TBR website.
Concerns
If you have any concerns relating to TBR please direct your query/issue/concern to the TBR Committee, or a committee member or the relevant person directly. Please do not use the TBR Facebook page.
